A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to do some more traveling. I find that being an entrepreneur, designer, and programmer makes me incredible location independent, and I’m going to take more advantage of that by starting to travel a bit more.
The goal of the travel will be to set up shop in another city for 1-2 weeks and just work there like I’d work at home. My plan is to work during regular work hours, and then meet up with friends or entrepreneurs in the evenings / nights.
The first trip is coming up. I booked a roundtrip flight to Hong Kong, and then some regional flights to Bangkok and Singapore. I have friends in all places.
For Hong Kong (Aug 30-Sept 4), I’m renting an Airbnb apartment and then will work either there or at a local co-working space. In Bangkok (Sept 4-9), I’m staying at my favorite hostel in the world (with some of my favorite Thai food in the world). Singapore (Sept 9-12) is still up in the air, and I’ll figure that out when it gets closer.
When I booked the trip, I put out an open invite for people to join. My good friend and former Chicagoan Taylor Hughes decided to join, and someone he works with is joining as well. Which is awesome.
The trip is a big test, so we’ll see how it goes. If you’re in any of those cities and want to meet up, let me know!
